We know summer just ended and fall has barely descended upon us, but speaking of fall – you know what we’re crazy excited for? Snowfall! While many Utahns are native to the state with the greatest snow on earth, a large number of us (including myself) are transplants who came out here for “one ski season,” and never left. Beer and skiing go hand in hand, you know – maybe not at the same time, but I reckon a beer has never felt more deserved after a long day on the slopes, après ski with maybe a plate of nachos and some wings.
One of our favorite Uinta seasonals is our Yard Sale Winter Lager. Yard Sale is a full-flavored Amber Lager with honey & caramel undercurrents and delightful vanilla accents. If the comical picture on the label doesn’t do enough to explain the origin of the name “Yard Sale” for you, “yard sale” is a term that refers to a skier falling down and losing their skis, poles, and other assorted items, which then end up scattered across the mountainside. They must then pick up their dignity, equipment, mittens, and hats.
While Yard Sale is still a brewin’, we are ready to start preemptively praying to the snow Gods to ensure a plentiful season. This Saturday at Uinta’s Brewhouse Pub, we will be showing a vintage Warren Miller film, ‘Steeper & Deeper,’ in order to get stoked for this year’s film, ‘Chasing Shadows.’ Admission is free and there will be raffles for door prizes. The show starts at 8pm – come eat, drink, and pray for snow!
